First I’d like to thank you so much for acquiring and listening to my album. I must say that it’s been a pleasure making it for you; despite the late nights, intensive work, and a few migraines along the way.

It is my sincere hope that my somewhat-individual-style brings you something new to feast your eardrums on. I also hope that in doing so you gain much pleasure – and that you tell your friends about this album too, in order that they, too, may share the pleasure.

Fortunately I have included a correct listing of the album’s title and the tracks within these notes; that is to say a listing of how I wanted my album to be and the words to read. – I am so sorry if it’s not as I wanted it to be; it’s not my fault at all: Once the album and notes are submitted the matter is out of my hands.

I look on 2013 as, in a way, my demo-year; the year that I show the world what I’m capable of producing.

This album is not an entry in some sort of talent-competition such as BBC’s The Voice: I can belt out notes as well as the next person, but this album is all about the music; my voice only makes up a fairly small-ish part of it. – ‘Accompaniment if you like. You’ll notice that a number of the tracks are instrumental and have no vocal content at all, others have my voice accompanying the music with singing.

– So this album isn’t about showcasing my voice: You don’t hear that much of it anyway to be frank. What this album is about is the tune, I gave you an example or two of my voice previously in my singles; particularly *On With The Show – The Single* (You get that again on this album; but encapsulated within a piece of audible-theatre an act depicting a performance, and digitally-remastered using a better technique than on the single.) – a free single (in the case of a number of online-retailers) in which I was saying to you ‘I’m here and I sound like… The music scene has an addition: Me. – Here you can sample me at no cost to yourself’. Another one where I showed some vocal ability, though maybe a little emotional ineptitude perhaps, was *Why Don’t You..?*.

– So from those you know I can sing, and you know I can compose tunes too; I created those beats and sounds: No covers, totally original material. In this album I’m not trying to prove further to you that I can sing, nor am I particularly trying to convey vocal power and presence; rather I’m saying ‘This is the type of music I create and compose’.

‘See I’m still in an introductory-period.

I’m into music for the rest of my career;  maybe the rest of my life – here to stay. Why am I doing this? I want to entertain you and I want to leave a musical legacy too: That’s it in a nutshell. – Yes I do want to become famous, etc. – I describe myself as a star-hopeful; but whether or not that happens, I know that I’ll have at least entertained many people and contributed something unique to humanity. I know that it’ll be hard work and an uphill-struggle; but that’s life. After I’m gone then someone else can do it, but for now I’m filling this place in the entertainments industry and the music scene.

I cover a wide agenda in my music and lyrics: I’m not fixated on one point; I’m liberated and I take the wider-picture into view: From clubs to the countryside, from nowhere to nature, my music encompasses life and the aspects of it; both physical and to some extent spiritual too. – I’m not talking about bashing you over the head with some religious publication or instruction-manual or trying to change your beliefs; I’m talking about what actually exists, what’s already there, it’s just that not a lot of people even realise it these days. – That’s a different subject anyway.

I’ve deliberately made this album easy to get a hold of online;

by using both streaming services and download services alike, so that everyone who wants to do so can sample any or all of the tracks on it. This albums’ tracks are also available for you to use, having obtained the appropriate licence, in You Tube videos and other media. (Some exclusions apply.) – So ‘fill yer boots’ as it were, but keep everything official and above-board to save yourself unnecessary hassle and possible extra expense at the end of the day. – Remember that exercising proper personal responsibility efficiently at all times can only do you good personally as well as positively affect others around you.

This album is from me to you; my offering of entertainment-value, and I hope you like it. It may seem from initial appearances that my contribution is fairly insignificant, in that you only hear my voice on half the tracks; but remember that my voice is only a tiny part of my contribution: I created most of the music, mixed all the tracks, dubbed and overlaid the sounds. I composed nearly everything you hear, apart from when I had the pleasure of working with DJ Miggsy over the internet while composing one of the tracks, and I’ve credited him with co-production of that track.

I wrote all the lyrics, recorded everything, acted in every respect as a sound-crew in addition to administrative assistant – even going so far as to initially master the tracks, and I did everything else too, right up to distribution and sales.. In short this album is the result of 9 months of hard slog: I was originally going to release this album in a somewhat different way in May 2013; but having set everything up for doing so and having started wheels turning I took a step back and decided that I could do better.

‘See I could throw you an acceptable-offering and know that the next release will definitely be better,

but that’s short-changing you, my audience, and in my books that’s not on. I give you my best because you deserve my best; and giving you anything less would have two negative consequences: You’d feel unsatisfied with choosing to listen to my music, and you’d also think I produced substandard music. – ‘See this works against both of us here; and we’d both lose out from the experience. So having set up for distribution I pulled the album out of the process at some personal expense and set about recording some new tracks.

Obviously my best will keep changing and hopefully continuing to improve

as I grow as an artist; but this offering is given from my heart, soul, and mind. – So this album is almost totally better than it would have otherwise been, had the originally-intended May-release, which was then decided was going to be a June-release, gone ahead. Obviously I’ve grown in that time artistically, but also I feel I’ve packed more value into this last-minute revision; which can only be a positive asset in respect of you, the listener.

The title-track *On With The Show [Celeb Version]* is the in part an audio-play, with scenes beginning as the Stage Manager knocks on my dressing-room door, going through to the stage, and starting the show.

That was created and recorded in February 2013 as I sat with the fridge open for warmth in the cold winter, as ice formed on the insubstantial radiator in the studio. Then came the pitiful excuse-for-a-Spring we had in the UK this year (2013): As the cost of paying the fuel-bills went through the roof due to attempts to keep the studio above zero degrees Centigrade, still I slogged on. – Why? – Because I love making music, and I love entertaining those who listen to it.

The finale’; track 12 *Encore*, is derived from the previous aborted attempt’s recordings too. Everything else on this album has been composed and produced since then.

This year (2013) has been a starting-point for me

inasmuch as that this is the first year that I’ve properly released anything in the usual way, as opposed to posting my output on my website only. In March I released *On With The Show – The Single* – which advertised this very album; well the initial attempt at least. I made that single as available as was possible, even paying for it to be a free download from a number of sources.

In June 2013 I released the single-version of *Hometown*, which appears in a somewhat remixed-form, “Stammer Mix”, on this album.

July 2013 saw the release of *Deejay [Remix]* – originally inspired by listening to will.i.am. – The extended remix, which I named “Rinse & Repeat Remix appears on this album too.

In August 2013 I released *Why Don’t You..?* – my dance-floor single offering: – Hopefully that got this planet dancing.

Also in August this album became available for pre-order – the day after *Why Don’t You..?* was released, in fact. If you pre-ordered thru iTunes you’ll have got *Daybreak [Golden Sunrise Album Trance Mix Instrumental]* to download immediately, then the rest of the album on the release-date in September 2013.

I was initially going to release *Daybreak [Golden Sunrise Trance Mix Instrumental]* as a single

before the album. Now it’ll be released as a single after the album. – The album-version and the single-version differ somewhat, of course.

So what now? Well at time of writing (May/June) I’m looking at bringing out a release for the Festive Season and I’ll concentrate on that after I’ve finished this album. – In fact I’m hoping, at time of writing, that my festive-release will be in aid of a charity, yet to be chosen at time of writing.

Then in 2014 – having established a presence in the industry – I’m going to cement an image as it were, by assuming a definite genre of some description – even if it’s a unique genre, hopefully finding professional management, and developing my personal musical abilities as well as my publicity further. I’m in this for the long run; and whether or not I become a celebrity or just languish in a sub-chart-position, I’ll always be helping entertain you by doing what I love doing: making music and singing. My mission is to entertain people and bring them together through my music, at the same time growing as a musician and entertainer, in order that I can bring you true and growing value.

    Daybreak [Golden Sunrise Trance-Mix Instrumental] – Write-up by

This track is a melodious trance-mix which is electronically engineered from unadulterated musical-sungasms: Hear the darkness fade from the heavens as the first-light peeps above the rim of our planet. Listen to the tonal cascade as the firmament illuminates with purest ultra-violet before the corona of our life-giver begins to emerge on the eastern horizon. Aural total-immersion is the order of the play as the mighty Sol rises into the sky, baptizing the landmass in flickering sunbeams which bounce off of the rivers and lakes. Experience the mighty star’s majesty as he shines forth his full light upon all of nature as it goes about its daily business under his warmth as his abundant radiance issues forth and warms Mother Earth.

This track is invigorating and musically-descriptive:

Just like the sun its warmth will penetrate your every sinew as you experience its warming glow. Enjoy your rainbow-spectral-experience of this audio-photon-assimilation of the grandeur and splendour that occurs daily, but which we normally take for granted. Travel down the sunlight corridors of your mind as your senses drip with its essence and warmth like honeydew of a fresh morning.

We sun-worshipers (literally) will probably appreciate this track in a different way to others. It was devised with Pagan-intent – and for the sake of the religious-fanatics of whatever particular persuasion reading this that doesn’t mean invoking any spirits, angels, demons, or other entities. – It means appreciating the sunrise from a perspective of realising that even this daily-event is in itself divine and partially-supernatural.

– Yes I am fully aware that a huge ball of burning plasma, a star – our sun, in space is radiating energy onto an orbiting planet, and that as that planet rotates so the sun appears to move in the sky when viewed from that planet’s surface. – If you’d prefer to keep it simple-scientific only then there it is. I’ll be honest with you at the risk of being called ‘big-headed’: I think this track
– my first proper trance-mix – is pretty awesome! 🙂 Also, as it’s instrumental, it saves me typing out a lyrics-sheet too.

    Daybreak [Alien Planet Trance-Mix Instrumental] – Write up by Sharron-
    Idol. May 2012.

This track is an imaginative trance-mix which is electronically engineered from somewhere in the subconscious: Hear the darkness fade from the heavens as the first-light peeps above the rim of the alien world. Listen to the tonal cascade as the colours of the alien sunlight swirl in the sky while the clouds diffuse and split its component parts. Dull twinklings of refracted light from airborne particles flicker up above as the first shadows begin to appear on the ground.

The body of the planet’s small powering star appears quickly above the horizon as a yellow light bathes this far-away world. As the temperature rises the planets’ visible wildlife begins to appear: Giant insects which may have been mistaken for half-buried rocks pick themselves up and stand on their many legs. They vibrate their wing-cases, filling the air with sound. Small plants grow quickly from the soil in places and open up their 5-petaled red blooms. The giant insects scurry around quickly, eating as many of the plants as they can, as creatures hidden within the rocks partially appear and spread their web-like tentacles into the air… There’s a good start for you. – You imagine the rest. Again experience the warming glow of this music, and let yourself be taken away to your own private alien planet even.

    If you’re not a first-time-listener to my music then you may have heard the single I released back in March: that single was like two-tracks-in-one, and advertised my forthcoming album which was never released, was re-recorded, and this is it. The first part of the 2-in1 track was the song *On With The Show* – which was going to be the title-track of the album previously, and is the title-track of this one two. The difference between what you heard on the single and what you hear on this album occurs both before and, to a very small extent, after the song itself: – A piece of audio-theatre begins at my dressing-room door as the Stage Manager knocks and lets me know that it’s two minutes to curtain-call. I exit the dressing-room and we walk round to the stage. – I call for an assistant to check my makeup on the way.

The musicians are ready at their instruments and the Stage Manager makes one last final check as I take up my position behind the keyboard. The curtains open to a fanfare and applause and the show begins…

    Deejay – [Rinse & Repeat Remix] : Write-up by Sharron Idol. June 2013.

Yeah I know what you’re going to say when you see the lyrics-sheet: ‘How the hell did you manage to spend so long writing those fairly simple lyrics?’ Well I wrote about 7 or 8 differing versions before I got to what I’ve used. Now I gave you the full brief on the original version in the notes that came with the original version on single-release in June 2013. – Much the same goes for this with an add-on at the end: I wasn’t going to add a version of *Deejay [Remix]* to this album initially; but after I’d done a lot of composing and editing and mixing of other tracks I thought to myself on the lines of “I reckon my listeners would love a track that they can dance a long time to.”

– So that idea set the cogs whirring in the old grey matter

and the two cells started exchanging ideas through the cans and string between them. Ideally I didn’t want something too long, like over 10 minutes, but I want something longer than my usual 5 or 6 minutes, in fact something longer than the 7 minutes odd of *Deejay – [Remix]*. Next question: Can I remix a remix? I don’t really know where that came from but it popped into my head as I’d tried it before, ( I can read your mind. – Naughty! ) found it rather difficult, and decided to go do something easier instead. – But I’m Sharron-Idol: I started in music by remixing stuff. I’ve remixed Becky Hill and Ben Howard, even Charlotte Church. – I can remix anything – and I did: –

The first draft was massive… Well over 10 minutes anyway; and I had to do it all again because I didn’t like it anyway and it was too much. ‘Second draft was just over ten minutes; which with a lot of tweaking gave me a third draft of this size.

I’ll let you into a secret here: I made a big error in this one.

– over 200 milliseconds of blank about 55% of the way through the track. – Now 200 milliseconds is a fifth of a second; which might not sound like anything serious. When you’re listening to over 5 minutes of continuous music and suddenly a tiny gap like that happens in the track it stands out like a sore thumb. – So like I needed something to bridge the gap or I’d have to start all over again and do a fourth-draft. I tried everything in terms of small sound bytes from the track; and everything I tried didn’t work or it messed up the rest of the track. – It didn’t sound right. – So I looked at alternative sources and remembered I had a sound byte of a friend from Canada doing a South Park impersonation of that teacher-guy; you know “Drugs are bad… m’kay …

Drugs

Now if you see anyone doing drugs you just let them know that it’s bad, m’kay.” – Since there are references in the song to Ellis Dee; which of course isn’t a reference to any real human, living or dead – you catch my drift here – I thought it would be rather ironic to bridge that gap with the phrase “Drugs are bad”.

Don’t take this the wrong way: I’m not suggesting that anyone tries any type of drugs here: In fact, personally speaking I like to remain drug-free; except for coffee and maybe tobacco – or caffeine and nicotine if you want to be specific, since remaining drug-free ensures that I can harness the power of my two brain-cells at any time without them being knocked out by some substance for a few hours. That helps in exercising personal-responsibility too; because if your brain is working properly you can make the right decisions.

You know as well as I do that many clubbers take recreational drugs.

(Just because the newspapers have moved onto other, more disturbing news to report doesn’t mean that everyone’s stopped doing it.) Do I really need to spell it out? No. 🙂 – Moving on…

Who feels like dancing non-stop for just over nine minutes and fifty seconds? If you fall into that category then this mix is for you; ‘almost literally ‘bop ’til you drop’ as the phrase goes. – It’ll keep you fit anyway. 🙂

    Hometown [Stammer Mix] – Write up by Sharron-Idol May 2013

    Again I’ve done a long write-up on this on the single-version, so if you haven’t already then go buy the single-version. The Stammer Mix is, basically, an experimental remix of the original. I’m not going to write reams of notes trying to put music into words: I’d have to produce a whole set of huge manuals just for this one track in order to do so. I can only ask you to listen, I hope you’ll enjoy it, and, as with all music it will have parts that speak to you and which you interpret in your own way. I will make a note that; as with the last track, this material has been digitally remastered using a better technique than was used on the original material on the single, so hopefully having done so will add to the quality of the track.     At The Fair [Blue Waltzer Reprise] – Write up by Sharron-Idol May 2013

    To be perfectly honest this was one of those tracks that popped into my mind tune-first: When that happens I compose a basic piece of music with a single or maybe a double-beat to it, (This one has a treble-beat to it, though to a single 95BPM time-base.) then I look to the music for inspiration: What is this basic piece saying to me? What is it reminiscent of? What emotion does it stir in me? What does it remind me of? What scenario – fictitious or factual – does it conjure up in my mind’s eye? In this case it immediately made me think of a fairground, and perhaps two lovers who had parted being reunited at the fairground. I thought of the loneliness felt after such a split – Oh I’m a veteran – and related that to being at the fairground soon afterwards. That’s really all I need say about this track. I hope you enjoy it.

    On Location – Write up by Sharron-Idol June 2013

This track was originally going to partner my track *Hometown* on the single of that name, released June 21st 2013; but was dropped just before submitting to the publisher because I decided at the last minute to only use a single track.

Originally I wanted to produce an instrumental which portrayed an on-location photo-shoot. I nearly did that; but it didn’t appear to be quite complete and could still leave the listener guessing and thinking the whole track was rubbish – just a load of noises with a beat.

Before you say it I know the song is pretty tuneless and flat: The sound-effect used on the audio-track is through a telephone; I’m making a quick call home before the shoot. The lyrics portray a model who feels she is dissatisfied with the career she has chosen. – I need say no more really.

    Shazza’s Repose [DJ Miggsy Dubstep Instrumental] Write up by Sharron-Idol June 2013

One night in May 2013 I was chatting on Skype to DJ Miggsy and his friend Danny. We were talking about this album, and I was saying how I’d developed a technique like a 1-person production-line for music: Start with a blank canvas, build an initial beat on that, add a secondary beat, add other components, and so on. Somewhere in my rhetoric I suggested we gave the method a try together online – really more as an experiment than anything else to see if it was possible to compose in this way. Danny stayed on the line while DJ Miggsy and I started constructing a sound.

I suggested a time of 120 and added a single beat as a base. Miggsy wanted dubstep-sounds, so I had a think and added a secondary beat after dropping the time to 110. In short I suggested a number of bars which I played and Miggsy decided what he wanted to include.

After some hours we had quite a nice tune going, but I wasn’t satisfied even though Miggsy was happy. I tweaked the sound and swapped a few bars. Result = Miggsy was happy with it and so was I. In a fit of generosity I asked him if he’d like to feature on my album and we agreed that I’d add the track. We hope you like our joint mix.

    Rain Spell Write up by Sharron-Idol June 2013

This track is a bit weird in a way. I was experimenting with a number of ideas I’d had for producing sounds, and this wasn’t just a 1-day-long experiment; I think it took about a week or more to put this together as it is now. It was one of those tunes that I created about five different versions of, and dropped one every now and again. What you hear is the one that survived the process of guided-selection.

As you may or may not know I have a strong bond with our Mother Earth. – In fact I’m a White-Witch and I love nature + I care a lot about this world and everything to do with it. In a way this song is my lament of our Earth-Mother at the way she is treated. Again I’ve used a lot of rain-references, which are, in a way, an underlying sub-theme of this entire album. Oh and for the US far-right conspiracy-theorists it has nothing to do with black-magic, the Illuminati, a sinister plot to take over the world, a demon known as “Rain-Man” who you made up based upon something which Eminem said some time ago… or any similar drivel.

Let me educate you, if such a thing is possible: I don’t know what it is about music, but the more you get into it the more prominent the rain-theme becomes. Rain brings power by its very nature; it refreshes and aids in the natural life-giving processes of our planet. Rain is musical; the random rhythm as the raindrops hit the surface, the cascading non-uniformity as those little pieces of water descend from the clouds, the gentle trickling of water as it runs to a lower point in a tiny stream to the roar of a mighty river as the flood waters from the storm are carried to the sea…

It’s music. You may not understand as you attack everything in sight by bashing it with your copy of The Bible and condemning it in the “love”, aka repression, intolerance, domination and biased hatred, that you bring to humanity in the name of your dead Saviour, but it is nevertheless music, and, as I’ve come to know of late, music is life.

In fact everything positive and life-giving, as well as everything animated and alive, has music. (As do things inanimate and without any form of self-inertia, such as mountains, landscapes – even, to an extent, deserts…)

The lyrics portray the energy exerted by the falling raindrops: As they cascade downwards from their source in the clouds they pick up energy whilst tumbling through the lower-atmosphere of our Mother Earth. They also pick up particulate matter from the atmosphere: pollen, dust, etc. They are truly a natural fertilisation and life-giver which is unique to our planet, (Yes I am aware of liquid-methane rain on the outer-planets of our solar-system.) and they bear all the essence and imprint of Earth as they hurtle headlong on their collision-course with the planet’s surface.

At the moment of impact all that built-up kinetic energy is released and changed into other forms of energy. (Energy is never “used” as such; it simply changes its state or form.) Some of that energy becomes a unique type of Earth-energy – with the revitalising and refreshing properties of the rain locked in to it. This energy can be and is tapped and absorbed by earth’s life-forms, except most Humans – who on the whole refuse to even acknowledge its existence.

Can I prove the above scientifically? No, but in the 15th century “science” or the medieval equivalent of science couldn’t prove the existence of electricity and in some cases attributed its manifestation to witchcraft. – ‘See witchcraft is everything that does not yet have any method of scientific investigation, it’s a collection of everything the Human Race has no background knowledge of, and it’s getting progressively smaller as understanding increases.

– So let the rain fall and replenish the Earth and revitalise those life-forms who will accept the energies.

There is another issue brought up by this track: –

The Human Race is multiplying too fast. – I know children are the future, but too many children = a crowded future without the means to feed the population. – I’m not going to preach about it, but think of this when planning your family, because if we go on expanding at this rate as a race we’ll need a second planet. – Mars is OK for a colony, but not much good as a permanent home for a race of Humans… ‘Bad news is that we don’t yet know of any planet that we can live on other than Earth and maybe Mars to some extent. Earth is a living breathing entity in herself, so let’s treat her with respect shall we, because if we mess up on this we don’t have a decent alternative: We can’t just hop a few hundred light-years to another habitable-planet, even if those who have it make the reverse-engineered technology derived from crashed alien craft available to Humanity. – I say that because – well don’t you think that there will be intelligent inhabitants of a habitable planet? I’ll leave that one up to you to make up your own mind on. If there are indeed

inhabitants of other inhabitable worlds then they’re not going to be too happy about Humans arriving to screw up their planet too.
