One of the initial questions you may well ask, after reading the below, is why did I call this EP ‘Brochure’? Why didn’t I choose the title of * Another Day * for the EP, since the first track bears the same title, and the track * Brochure * is
If the truth be known I nearly did; but I was torn, and not only did ‘Brochure’ sound a better name for the title of the EP; I also had some great artwork in the pipeline as cover art for the track, and so I used it as the EPs cover art and called it ‘Brochure’. The original album notes are below: –
When I composed the music for the pieces on this EP, and wrote the lyrics for track 1, it was during the period from Spring 2011 to Spring 2014. I too experienced the Lean – the low-period at the start of the year, when the finances are low or non-existent, and business is slow because everyone else has run out of funds too.
Outside (if you live in the Northern Hemisphere) everything is dead or resting – and it’s bloody cold. – Oh so cold. Even the sunshine – what there is of it – seems to have very little if any warmth in it. There is nothing to look forward to until at least Valentine’s Day in February… And the bills pile up: Electricity bill, gas bill, telephone bill, internet bill, other fuel bills, credit-card bills, food bills…Bills, bills, bills…
Is it any wonder that depression peaks at this time of year
(Mid to late -Winter)?
That’s why I created this EP: It’s a little happiness-brochure to remind you that each day is a new way with new opportunities, that there is still life and it’s yours to continue living.
The title-track, *Brochure*, will remind you that you’ll be on holiday in the not-too-distant future, enjoying the warmth of our life-giver sun – wherever you may be. That [instrumental] track sounds like the commercial music associated with the travel-industry – but with a little extra: It was composed as a pick-me-up rather than to sell something. Rather than persuading you to purchase a trip to the sunshine it brings the sunshine to you, despite the cold and the dark of Winter. I could have written lyrics singing of sunshine and paradisiacal locations; but this is an instrumental in which the music does all the talking.
Speaking of lyrics, here are the lyrics to Track 1; *Another Day*: –
Ice Recordings – Another Day: Lyrics By Sharron-Idol c.2011
The sunlight strikes me as I wake,
As the night-clouds drift away.
The church-bells sounding from afar,
An announcement of the day.
The shade of life still damps my gown,
A legacy of nocturnal sweat.
The beauty laying next to me,
Treasured memories that are kept.
A different fragrance fills the room,
A scent of lust of passions spent.
When fever eats the ragged rock:
The chains unlock, the heaven-sent.
The sparks that arc between the two of us –
Give out heat that warms the air.
Cuddled up in sensual folds,
In bands of gold – with love to share.
The garments strewn across the floor,
Indicate ignition’s source.
With daylight backlighting the blinds,
A trail of the last night’s course.
Emerging from our warm cocoon,
As sunlight burns the clouds away.
We kiss and rise to meet the dawn;
On this, another morn, another day.
Life is precious, life is a glimmer in infinity, life is for living: Live it.
